And thanks to Bubbah, Murderous and Niel Drummond for their Quake C/.mdl advice.

Last but not least a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to my friend Melissa who was nice enough to spend a few hours screaming into a microphone and thus supplying me with most of Rox's sound FX. THANK YOU MEL(issa)!!!! Hell yeah, I tell you what man!

Description of the Modification
-------------------------------
A replacement for the Player.mdl. Whe you play Deathmatch or Capture the Flag (yay!) you will be getting your butt beat by Big Bad Beautiful Blonde Babes (BBBBB). You will also, I suppose, be one of those babes.

These ladies are all equipped with sawed-off double barrelled rocket launchers. So be polite.

Most of the sounds are brand new, but a few are just the id sounds with the pitch a bit higher. A couple I snatched from a really bad Hong Kong movie that was a rip off of a good Hong Kong movie so I won't even bother mentioning it.

FYI: Rox's shirt color is Quake's "pants" color. I play a lot of CTF so felt the team color to be more important. The Quake "shirt" color is still there, it's just been relegated to the trim on her shirt.

Known Bugs/Problems
-------------------

1. Rox is a little tall. I made her proportional in size to the Quake Guy (her head is the same size as his), it just happens that he's a squatty little psycho. This means that she's a little bigger than the bounding box for the Quake guy (which I couldn't change) so if you shoot a rocket at her head it'll go right through. Also, you'll sometimes see her head disappear into the ceiling of low passages.

2. Sometimes in CTF the grapple hook seems to cause the player to tumble across the floor when they run. This might look OK with Mr. Quake but it looks bizarre when it happens to Rox. This is because the frames the grapple mod picks from the original player.mdl aren't always interchangable with the analogous frames in the Roxie player.mdl. No big deal.

3. 12/1/97: Apparently there's a trick to getting Rox to work in GL Quake. Big thanks to Paul Ferris for sending me the solution:

I also had the problem with running Rox under glquake, but discovered that
if you delete all the files in the glquake dir (the one under the id1 dir),
rerun glquake (with the glquake -game rox command), it remeshes the files in
the rox dir and runs everything fine.

How to Install the Modification
-------------------------------
Create a directory in your Quake directory named \Rox. Unzip Rox.zip into this directory using the -D extension which, if I'm not mistaken is the extension that keeps the directory structure intact.

Be careful not to write over your preexisting player.mdl (which is in your \quake\id1\progs directory so you shouldn't be anywhere near it) or you might accidentally give your quake guy a sex change.

Type "quake -game rox" in the \quake directory or use the handy .bat file in the \rox directory.

Copyright and Distribution Permissions
--------------------------------------
You may distribute this Quake modification in any electronic format as long as all the files in this archive remain intact and unmodified and are distributed together.

If you wish to use this model in your non-commercial project, you must first get permission from the author, Spencer Boomhower (email is fine).

Authors may not include these modifications in commercial products without permission written on PAPER by the author, Spencer Boomhower.

CD-ROM collections that exploit and cheat hard working game artists suck and are bad.

The author in no way advocates violence against women, except for those women who attack the author with double barreled sawed-off rocket launchers.
